NBA All-Star Draft Results

And the fields for All-Star Saturday Nights

Lebron was the overall leading vote-getter, so he got to select first. KD second. They have to select from the starters pool first, and then the reserves. Kevin Durant has been replaced as a starter, by Jayson Tatum. KD will still select the team though.

The All-Star teams for 2022

I usually watch this every year, so I did once again. Even though I wish that they would just draft teams live right before the jump (like we do on the streets!), this was pretty darn entertaining.

No thanks to Kevin Durant, he was incredibly dull and flat as a pancake. Whenever he was asked a question by EJ or the gang, he was very abrupt. Also, why did he draft Jayson Tatum third? He didn’t need to draft Tatum, Tatum was his injury replacement. He could have picked Jokic instead!

LeBron and the crew had me laughing. All those (not so) subtle digs at James Harden were great.

Once again, it looks like LeBron has drafted the better team. My money will be on his team. I’d like to see Garland win MVP in his town, but I suspect it will be Giannis.

Three Point Contest

We have a full field of 8 this year. Awesome!

Zach LaVineCJ McCollum
Desmond BaneTrae Young
Karl Anthony-TownsLuke Kennard
Fred VanVleetPatty Mills

No Curry this year. My money is on Zach. This is his third straight year in the contest and he really, really wants to win one.

The Dunk Contest

Obi Toppin
Jalen Green
Cole Anthony
Juan Toscano-Anderson

These guys are all young and athletic. It’ll come down to creativity I think. Take your pick! I’m going with one of the “J’s”…maybe Jalen.

The Skills Contest

The format has changed this year and I’m actually really excited about it. I’m always excited about it. Three teams will participate in a series of drills that test shooting, passing, dribbling, and speed. One team will be eliminated in the first round, and the remaining two will have a half-court shooting competition to determine the winner.

Team Cavs: Jarret Allen, Darius Garland, and Evan Mobley

Team Antetokounmpo: Giannis, Thanasis and Alex

Team Rookie: Scottie Barnes, Cade Cunnigham, and Josh Giddey

This will be so much fun! I’m getting behind Team Cavs, but don’t sleep on the Rookies.

The Rising Stars Challenge

The Skills Contest isn’t the only event to see some changes take place. The Rising Stars now features four teams and will take place over 3 games, as opposed to just two teams in one game.

Wowee. There is a lot of young talent in this. It should be phenomenal. I really have no idea. Team Worthy.

I’m not even going to bother mentioning who is in the celebrity game. It’s the one thing I never bother to watch. Just once, I wish they’d get some real celebrities. We always have the coolest celebrities watching the NBA, surely some of them would like to play. I’m available. Still.
