Wowee. Is it just me or was E3 absolutely massive this year? We had updates, new games, expansion packs, release dates and more announced! I’m going to try and touch on every single announcement, but I am a one man team, so forgive me if I miss anything! I’ll do it in alphabetical order, so it should be easy enough to skip to a specific game if you want.
A point and click adventure, about a man stuck in a 12 minute time loop. The game is starring Daisy Ridley, James McAvoy and Willem Dafoe. That’s a pretty star studded cast! It was given a release date of August 19th and is coming to Xbox One and PC. It will be a launch day title for Game Pass.
I love me some Age of Empires. I got my first taste of the franchise back when I was a kid. It came for free in a box of cereal. Yes, really. Coming to PC (also available via Game pass) on October 28th!
Among Us will receive an update on June 15th, including a new hide and seek mode. It will also increase the number of players from 10 to 15. I still haven’t played Among Us, but I am keen to get around to it eventually.
Left 4 Dead, but in space. I want to like this and it did look fun, but the guns sounded pathetic! I wasn’t keen on the voice acting either. Hmmm, I don’t want to be negative before we leave the letter “A”, but this just feels like a discount version of good games we already have.
A follow up to the first Plague Tale, coming sometime in 2022. I played a little bit of the first one, but never finished. It was an intriguing world and the second game looks pretty fun. If you are into grim horror. I’ll have to add the first one to my list of games to go back to.
I don’t know when this game will come out, but holy shit. I need it. Just wow.
I did really enjoy Axiom Verge. I’m not usually one who enjoys modern games that are designed to feel like old games, but I was pretty heavily hooked on Axiom Verge. I still have a poster of it on my wall, just next to my bed. Sometimes I wonder how I got married.
Anyway, Axiom Verge 2 looks pretty similar and pretty different. Combat looks like it has switched from a gun to melee. Also, you can skip every single boss fight and still finish the game. I’m not sure how I feel about that. Overcoming challenges is an important part of gaming. If you can just skip the hard bits, how are you supposed to get better?
No release date yet, but it will be available on PS4 and 5.
An upcoming title for PS5, Babylon’s Fall might have been better off without a trailer. It looks pretty clunky and dated. I mean, this game looks BAD. I might give this one a miss!
Yes! Basically a spiritual successor to Left 4 Dead. Some of my fondest memories are playing Left 4 Dead with my bro. We never left each other for dead, which means we will be able to come back for blood.
There will be an open beta in August and the game will officially release on October 12th.
Pass. I like my war games in the past, not the future. The trailer looked more like a Hollywood film than a video game. I’m sure it’ll have a big audience, but it’s not really my scene anymore, which is sad to say. I’ll just hold my breathe and continue to hope for Bad Company 3.
The Big Con is a heavily 90’s inspired game about a teenager who has taken up grifting, in order to raise enough money to save the family video store. It has a catchy jingle.
This one looks to be an arcade boxing game set in the Rocky and Creed Universe. Everything has a universe nowadays. The Rockyverse! I don’t mind arcade boxers, but I won’t be in a hurry to pick this up. I just want a new Fight Night. Now that was a boxing game. Bring on Fight Night : Champion 2!
I know that I will really want to like Broken Pieces, but I think that a fixed camera angle doesn’t really work in games anymore. It just ends up being frustrating more than anything else. I also hate it when you can’t shoot and walk at the same time. My wife can’t talk and walk at the same time, so maybe she is the target audience.
Still, if you like Silent Hill or the early Resident Evil titles, you will probably dig this. Look for it in the first half of 2022 for PC and Consoles.
Season 4 of Warzone will drop everywhere on the 17th June. Wait a minute, that’s today! You can’t really complain about a free game, so you can either check it out or not.
I will probably give it a look. I like Warzone. This update looks like it adds some new game modes, maps, zombies and dragons. Colour me intrigued.
I can’t comment on Chivalry 1 or 2, because I’m pretty unfamiliar with it. Chivalry 2 dropped a week or two ago and this free update looks to double the size of the game. That’s good value! By the look of the video, it’s not really my style of game, but I have heard great things!
2 games were announced at E3 that will be set in Chernobyl. I will probably get them both. I love Chernobyl. They had me at survival horror RPG. Coming to PC and Consoles.
I love stealing stuff. In games, I mean. Not in real life. I don’t know much about this game, but I love Steely Dan and I love stealing. I’m in.
I’ve heard it compared to Stardew Valley, which I haven’t played. Doesn’t look like my scene though. If you are interested in top-down, minecraft style games, look for it in 2022.
Crossfire : Legion was announced, but I couldn’t find much information on it. I think it’s a shooter?
I didn’t play the first one, because I’m not into the whole interactive movie thing. I like to play my games and watch my movies. I don’t like watching games and playing movies.
With that being said, it does look like an interesting story. Maybe I’ll wait for the Netflix adaptation. The game is coming on October 22nd.
Not to sound hypocritical, but this is an old school looking game that actually looks very fun. Also, what an amazing name. The early access beta will be August 5th on Steam.
It makes me think that Zelda and Bastion had a baby. The games, not the characters. I think Bastion is too young to impregnate someone. Doesn’t matter. Coming July 20th to Xbox and PC.
This game was long enough without getting an extended version. Unless the Director’s Cut is actually removing content. Either way, I’ve had my fill of this game and will be giving this a miss. This trailer just felt like they were trying to turn Death Stranding into Metal Gear.
September 23rd will be the day that Diablo fans can play the upcoming remaster. I’ve never played it. Am I getting old?
Hey! I’ve played this one! I was not expecting it to turn out the way it did. I don’t even know why I played it to be honest. Maybe I was being a creepy/horny nerd and was attracted by the hot animated characters. What an unnerving experience Doki Doki ended up being.
The new update is coming on June 30th and will feature some new side stories and updated visuals. The hot girls get hotter.
This looks incredible! The new dark fantasy adventure comes from the creative mind of George RR Martin. He will literally do anything to get out of finishing Game of Thrones. This looks great though and will be available for PC and Consoles on the 21st of January.
A classic style JRPG. I love these games, but only when I can play them handheld. As such, it is only coming for Xbox in 2022. Maybe one day I’ll get a Switch release.
This reminded me of the early Fallout games and I don’t mean that as a compliment. I want to like this, but I wasn’t really digging the vibes that I got from the trailer.
I don’t mean to be critical of Endless Dungeon, but 99% of the time when I see these types of game, I can’t tell them apart from similar titles. Pass.
Those of you who know me, know that The Evil Dead is my all time favourite movie and Bruce Campbell is my idol. This game could look like a steaming pile of crap and I’d still buy it. Fortunately, it looks pretty fun! The trailer was excellent and paid homage to the films very well. Fans of the film will not be disappointed. The game is hopefully releasing this year! Gimme gimme gimme!
I haven’t played this game, but I have heard good things. This looks like a new map is being added. It looks fun enough, but there is nothing enticing me enough to play this instead of Warzone.
I tried to get into EVE Online about 4 or 5 years ago. It was very daunting and unwelcoming to newcomers. I don’t mean that it had a toxic community, just a very steep learning curve.
The Academy looks set to fix that and to make the game more accessible to newcomers. I doubt very much that I will be coming back to it, but if you have ever thought about playing, this might be a good starting point.
Fall Guys will be releasing a new skin that is based off of Nier. I’ll be honest, I forgot that Fall Guys existed.
July 7th will see the end of the Brotherhood of Steel saga in Fallout 76. I tried 76 once, but had no friends to play it with. It just felt lonely. So I went back and played Fallout 4. Good times.
I didn’t want these trailers, because I want to go into the game blind. I don’t want any of the story spoiled for me. I will definitely be purchasing Far Cry 6. I’ve got them all on release date since number 2. And I loved them all. Except Primal and 2.
Is it just me, or was that some horrid voice acting? I don’t know why, but I’ve been really sensitive to voice acting as of late. Sometimes, if I hate it enough, I will play the game in another language. This game looks fun though. Final Fantasy is usually enjoyable enough.
More Final Fantasy. I’m actually pretty excited for this! A remaster of the first 6 games, being released in one collection! Unfortunately, it is for PC only. A console release would be cool. Also it is getting an IOS and Android release, but you know my thoughts on phone gaming.
This was a very interesting teaser. It showed me absolutely nothing, but convinced me that I needed this game. Exactly how a teaser should be! The YouTube description suggests that it will be a Sci-Fi FPS.
Final Form is only a working title, but whatever it is released as, I will be checking it out. Space is fun!
It looks really nice, but I don’t play video games for realism. I’m not the target audience for “Simulator” games. Coming July 27th if you want to fly like a pilot though!
It looks like it is a time-loop, murder mystery game that was inspired by a Skyrim mod. Sometimes I write sentences that I never imagined I would ever write. That was one of them. It comes to PC on July 28th.
Vroom Vroom! Is there a better driving series than Forza Horizon? No, there isn’t. On November 9th, we can all head to Mexico and drive fast cars together. As it is a Microsoft title, it will only be on Xbox and PC, as per normal with Forza. It will be on Game Pass on launch day. That’s pretty cool. Game Pass is such a good service.
I got Thief vibes from this, which isn’t good. The only Thief game I ever played was garbage. It did also kind of remind me (to a lesser extent) of Dishonoured. I liked Dishonoured, but that’s not enough to win me over to this game.
This game went and gave itself an “Honest Movie Trailer” trailer. I liked it. Also, Shroom & Doom is a great name for an update. I can’t believe it’s already been a year since Grounded came out! I always wanted to check it out, but I still haven’t! Kids. They take all of your money and all of your time.
Shroom & Doom will drop in a couple weeks on June 30th.
I play games as a healthy way of expressive my anger and violent tendencies. Games like this are definitely not my thing. I don’t want a calm and soothing experience. I want to watch the world burn.
In reality, I’m all about saving the Earth, so it’s good to see that the developers will actually be planting trees if enough people add it to their Steam wishlist. Let’s get on it, people.
No disrespect to the Guerrilla Collective, but I don’t have a spare 3 and a half hours to go through a showcase of 70 something Indie games. I’ve linked the video if you want to watch, but I can’t. I’ve also linked an article from PC Gamer that list all of the titles announced. Props to them!
A free Halo game that will tie in to the upcoming Infinite title. Looks like the free part will be multiplayer only, not dissimilar to Call of Duty releasing Warzone separately and for free. Looks like they are aiming for a Christmas holiday release.
I don’t know why, but for some reason I thought this game had already come out. I didn’t really like the first one, so I will likely give this a miss.
I don’t really like many strategy games and this trailer put me off even more. The closed Beta is already happening. I’ll probably not think of this game again.
Another strategy/simulation game, just set in space. Stay tuned, we do have some exciting titles coming up.
A simulation/management game, just with dinosaurs. I must admit that I am slightly interested in this. Not enough to pay for it on release day, but I might check out the original one at some point.
Violence! Sweet, glorious violence. Killing Floor 2 is headed to space! Specifically, the moon. We can start murdering space zombies on the 22nd of June.
I love London. Therefore, I’m eager to experience this “supernatural crisis” game on Jully 22nd, only on Xbox/PC. This really looks interesting!
2022 will see the sequel for perhaps the best game on Switch!
Finally, a Lego game that actually involves building with Lego, instead of just breaking it with Lego People. Personally, I would rather build with actual Lego, but you can’t deny the convenience of building in the digital world. June 22nd, unfortunately it is only on PC.
Another time-loop! The trailer looked pretty cool, but it is turned base combat. That’s a bit of a turn-off for me. Unless it’s Pokemon. August 3rd if you are interested in this one. You can also register for the beta in July if you wish to do so (via steam).
I think Life is Strange has a really great story, but like I already mentioned, I’m not really into the whole interactive movie thing. I would love to watch a series of this show though!
True Colours will release on the 10th of September and will be closely followed by the remastered collection on the 30th.
I don’t know if I’m getting tired, if my enthusiasm is waning or if this just looks like a boring game. Maybe a combination of all 3. Again, no disrespect. I’m sure this game will find it’s audience, it’s just not my cup of tea.
A free to play MMO. Not normally my thing, but this trailer did look awesome. I doubt I’ll play it, but it was a great trailer.
Watching this reminded me of Moving Out, which was a game my wife and I played together. We don’t often play video games together. In fact, I think that was the only time. I reckon we will be able to tackle this together as well! Apparently, it is already out!
Just a bunch of mini games (100+) featuring all of your favourite Mario characters. This will be a good family title. And you can play online if you don’t have anyone to play with locally. That sounds really depressing though.
I don’t know. This cinematic trailer did look really fun, but the Avengers game is super repetitive. I don’t think I have the energy, nor time to go back to it. RIP Chadwick Boseman.
Speaking of Marvel, here is a new game from Marvel. I’m very, very sceptical because of how Avengers turned out, but this trailer was enough to make me want to try it out at least.
It’s single player, which is promising and it looks like it has a better sense of humour than Avengers did. On October 26th, I just might check it out.
Ummmmm what? Y’all remember Metal Slug? Well, it’s back! I don’t know if it will age well at all, but I guess we will see. No release date or info yet, so I suspect it will still be a year or two away.
Again, I think my enthusiasm is waning, but I don’t want to see another pixelated game. I mean, parts of the trailer looked cool, other parts just looked like a blurry, blocky mess. We have upgraded technology for a reason.
The first new Metroid game in almost 20 years will make it’s way to Switch in October. I don’t mind the Metroid games, but I do feel they are a bit dated. I’m sure this will be a fairly big seller though.
This looks cool! I am unaware of the existence of Stories. I played Monster Hunter, but never Stories. The trailer didn’t tell me much of the gameplay. I’ve got enough on my plate, so I won’t get this. It did look good though!
Coming soon to Mortal Shell is a new DLC. The teaser didn’t say much, but that’s how I like it. Mortal Shell is on my very long list of games to go back to and play at some point. It looks awesome and the DLC looks the same!
Another Battle Royale title. YAWN! At least it is a little bit different, being focussed on Martial Arts instead of guns, but I am so over Battle Royales.
2D Skateboarding! That trailer took me back to playing Rocket League on my Gameboy Advance SP when I was a little one! I am so in. Looks like a Christmas release window and will be on all consoles and PC. It looks like a good game for Switch I think! I can’t wait. If only I could actually skateboard without hurting myself.
Another trailer that “Honest trailers” will have a hard time making fun of. We didn’t get much info, but we did have a laugh. The first game was pretty darn solid and I will get this one for sure!
I want to say it’s like a zoomed in Smash Bros, just with animals and guns, but when I say that, it sounds like fun. It didn’t look fun.
Nifty idea in this first person, fast paced, dungeon runner? It’s just a bunch of different, randomly generated dungeons. If you die when an attempting a run through, you can never play that dungeon again. If you complete the dungeon, no one else in the world can ever play that dungeon again.
That’s a really cool concept, but I am prone to rage quitting and suffer from FOMO, so I don’t think this one will be good for my heart rate. I have enough stress in my life!
Another Chernobyl game. It looks good, but not dissimilar to the other 3 that were announced! I will get to them all at some point, but of the 4, this is the one I’m least interested in!
I was ready to write this off as another side-scrolling, cutesie platformer, but about halfway through the trailer picked up and got interesting. I’m in no rush, but I am certainly not opposed to checking it out.
It must be close to 20 years since Psychonauts originally came out? It was a title I never played, for no other reason than I didn’t have access too it.
I don’t know how entertaining it will be for those who never played the original, but I am sure that fans of the first game will be thrilled for a follow up. Nostalgia does hit different!
A co-op online Rainbow Six game that has you tackling an alien threat! It feels strange that Rainbow Six is heading into space, considering that it is usually a more realistic style shooter. Still, I’m interested in it. I would prefer a remaster or a new game of the Vegas series, but this should be fun enough. It will feature cross play between all consoles/PC when it releases on the 16th of September.
This looks like Splatoon meets Fall Guys with a heavy dose of food. Take that however you want. I probably won’t take it at all.
”The quaint island town of Redfall, Massachusetts, is under siege by a legion of vampires who have blocked out the sun and cut the island off from the outside world” – sounds like the vampires are after my own heart.
Redfall will be a co-op FPS shooter about vampire hunters. Sounds awesome! The release window is slated for Summer 2022, only on Xbox/PC. This Bethesda deal with Microsoft really kills PS boys like myself. I’m going to have to save up for an Xbox.
Another side-scrollin’, pixel heavy, cyberpunk themed game. It does look nicer than most of the other pixelated trailers we’ve seen recently. And the story seems intriguing. 20 something years ago, I would have loved the crap out of this. But it’s not the 90’s anymore and I want to play modern games!
They lost me at “an Ubisoft original”. I’m still sour on Ubisoft after AC : Valhalla. Also, it doesn’t look that original. It just looks like Forza on pushbikes. Boo.
This isn’t actually a game, but a subscription service designed to teach you guitar, whilst you play a game. It’s a cool idea if you want to learn guitar, but I suspect you have to buy the game and then pay a monthly subscription price of about $15 per. Fuck you, Ubisoft.
I’m beginning to think that I am no longer the target audience for video game companies. Every one seems really excited by this. It doesn’t look bad, but it doesn’t look good either. I don’t know anymore.
They say this is Dark Souls, if it was a side-scrolling platformer. I feel like a lot of games are compared to Dark Souls. I won’t judge this game, because I didn’t play the original, but it just feels like another SNES game that was made for PS5.
On June 22nd, Sea of Thieves will get a Pirates of the Caribbean themed update. It is completely free and will include 5 new tales centred around Captain Jack Sparrow. Sounds interesting enough, although I though that interest in that franchise had died off!
It looks pretty interesting. I’ll wait until I see a gameplay trailer before I make any further opinions on it. I am annoyed it’s “Chapter One” though. I don’t like episodic releases. Unless it is a significant sized chapter, kind of like with the recent Final Fantasy 7 remake.
A snowboarding MMO that looked kind of boring. I mean, it’s hard to criticise a snowboarding game for featuring lots of snowboarding, but it doesn’t look like enough content to maintain my interest. It also looked like it was very slow.
This looks like a step in the right direction for the fighting genre. I got bored of those types of games a very long time ago – Tekken, Mortal Kombat, Streeth Fighter….they were all just the same game with different skins.
This one though, this looks different. And good! It looks fun and it looks like you actually need to think, instead of just button mashing. No release date yet, but this might be the first fighter I check out in a long time!
I really want to like this, I really do. The trailer looks so interesting, but the gameplay looks so outdated! What is the point of doing your trailer in 4K 60FPS if it looks like I could match the graphics with an Atari? I’m not going to complain about this anymore, I feel like it’s the fiftieth game like that from E3.
It’s Limbo, just underwater. I liked Limbo. It spoke to the emo in me. I don’t think I ever finished it though, mainly because the Vita was a crappy console. I don’t think I’ll ever finish Limbo and I don’t think I’ll ever play Silt.
This is Tony Hawk, but with a bird. LOL. I just got it. Tony “Hawk”. That’s funny and I love a good pun, but I won’t get this. It looks good, but I’ll just play Tony Hawk if I want to play a Tony Hawk like came. Besides, OlliOlli World is my skating game this year.
The graphics/gameplay reminded me strongly of something. I’m not sure what. Subnautica? I don’t know. What is Slime Rancher? Do you just suck up different coloured slime with a vacpack? I mean, that sounds amazing. Maybe Chicago and I can play it together. She’ll be 3 or 4 when it releases sometime in 2022.
I remember watching this at Sony’s Direct earlier this year? I can’t recall what I said of it at the time, but if I had any interest in it, it’s mostly gone.
This really grabbed my attention and I am looking forward to playing it. You had me at aliens.
On July 27th, Halo will meet Portal in this upcoming console shooter. It looks as good as it sounds. 20+ maps, 10+ game modes. If multiplayer shooters are your thing, you have to give this a look.
I am ashamed to say that I never played S.T.A.L.K.E.R.. I know, I know. A big video game nerd like myself, who also happens to be very interested in Chernobyl never played it. Mainly, because it wasn’t on PS4.
I have heard great things, from a friend who’s opinion on such matters I value. I will play it, I promise. And then, on the 28th of April, 2022, I will play this.
A new universe from the Bethesda team. Just a massive, offline, single player RPG. Nice. This trailer didn’t tell us much, but I was invested in this game a long time ago. I’d prefer Elder Scrolls VI, but this will do. 11/11/22. That’s soothing to look at.
Looks like the Tekken gang are going to join Super Smash Bros. I don’t have Super Smash Bros, but that does sound interesting.
This is apparently the 17th game in the series. How does it have 17 games and I’ve not played a single one? It’s a JRPG and looks fun enough, but I’d feel dirty jumping on the bandwagon this late!
Another platformer. Despite the name, I can clearly see lots of walking in this trailer.
A Borderlands spin-off? Cool! I love lootin’ and shootin’. And a few other things that rhyme with that. Don’t be crude. Early 2022 is when we will be playing this title! Also, it stars Will Arnett. Was he in the Tina DLC? If so, how did I miss that?
I was excited when I saw the name, but let down when I watched the trailer. One day I will get the Viking game I deserve.
Bastion/Zelda except you are a fox. Sweet, I’m in.
From the creators of Two Point Hospital, comes the same game, just about a campus. I’m fine with that. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it! I loved Theme Hospital as a kid and Two Point was the closest replica to that I could get. If you like a bit of silly fun, these are the types of game for you.
Valorant has a new robot character on the way. I don’t know Valorant.
A Battle Royale about Vampires. That doesn’t make sense on so many levels. I can’t even.
From a graphical standpoint, this looks amazing. I love it when someone tries something new in the industry. For that reason alone, they have my support and I will be getting this.
It was my least favourite Watch Dogs game, but I still enjoyed it. That being said, I paid almost zero attention to the story line. This looks fun enough and I have been meaning to go back to Watch Dogs and finish my Platinum. Maybe July 6th will be a good time to go back!
Not much information on this yet, but I believe Warhammer is a turn based tactics kind of game? Good for PC and the likes, but not so much for the console crowd.
Another turn-based strategy, with some RPG elements. It looks like it will serve it’s target audience well, but once again, I’m not that audience.
This sounds like the kind of story I would have written in high school. It looks like a good handheld game, which is convenient, because it will release on the Nintendo Switch in 2022. PC as well. A Wizard with a Gun. Nice.
World War Z is getting a pretty sizeable update sometime this year. It will include enhanced graphics, a first person mode, a new melee combat system and full crossplay.
Here is Kojima talking about his upcoming project. I’ll check it out. Too bad P.T. never worked out. That would have been something special.
I think that’s everything. We also heard rumours of a new title from Warhorse Studios (the group that did Kingdom Come : Deliverance) that is as yet unnamed. There was talk of a new Painkiller game. Payday 3. King’s Bounty 2. Mount and Blade II: Bannerlords. Crossfire: Legion. Scars Above. Gungrave G.O.R.E. Dolmen. The Last Oricro. Echoes of the End. The Chant, and Encased.
Wowee. That was massive. Let me know what game or games you are most excited for! And please let me know if I missed anything or if any of the links are defective! As always, thanks for reading!
