It’s here! Honestly, this could be the most exciting draft night in history! Ok, that’s probably an oversell, but it should be pretty fun. Sure, there aren’t any big marquee players that everyone is hyped about. I don’t even know if there are players that ANYONE is hyped about (I’ve got some guys I’m keeping my eyes on though). I think that’s what is going to make it fun though. Who knows what is going to happen? There are so many rumours going around, we could see a bunch of trades or weird selections. I can’t wait! I’m going to have all the trades briefly recapped here and the draft picks as well. I won’t be doing analysis because it will take too long, we will get to that later. I also will not be doing the second round.
THE RUMOURS
James Harden wants out of Houston and would like to make his way to Brooklyn. He has turned down an offer for a 2 year extension with the Rockets. Brooklyn makes sense, it has the D’Antoni and Durant connection. It will cost the Nets a lot!
THE TRADES
The Los Angeles Lakers trade Danny Green and the 2020 28th pick to Oklahoma City for Dennis Schroder.
Oklahoma City send Chris Paul and Abdel Nader to the Phoenix Suns, in exchange for Ricky Rubio, Kelly Oubre Jr.,Ty Jerome, Jalen Lecque and the 2022 first round pick.
Milwaukee acquire Jrue Holiday from New Orleans, in return they receive Eric Bledsoe, George Hill, 3 future first round picks and 2 future pick swaps.
In a sign and trade deal with Sacramento, Milwaukee also add Bogdan Bogdanovic and Justin James to their roster. Sacramento gets Donte DiVincenzo, Ersan Ilyasova and D.J. Wilson.
The Houston Rockets have traded Robert Covington to the Portland TrailBlazers, in exchange for Trevor Ariza, the 16th pick in the 2020 draft and a 2021 protected first round pick.
The Detroit Pistons have trade Bruce Brown to the Brooklyn Nets and in return have received some cash, a 2021 second round pick and Dzanan Musa.
Philadelphia 76ers have acquired Danny Green and Terence Ferguson from OKC (that didn’t take long for them to flip Green). In return, OKC pick up Al Horford, the rights to Vasilije Micic, a first round pick in 2025 and a second round pick in tonights draft. I thought Philly needed to add some shooters (shots fired!).
The Knicks have traded with Utah to get the 23rd pick in tonights draft and Ante Tomic. In return, Utah get the 27th and 38th picks tonight.
Orlando have given Milwaukee the 45th pick tonight in exchange for 2 future second round picks.
Houston have traded the recently acquired Trevor Ariza and the 16th pick to Detroit in exchange for a future first rounder.
There is a 3 way trade between Detroit, Los Angeles (Clippers) and Brooklyn. Landry Shamet is going to Brooklyn, Luke Kennard is going to L.A. and Detroit get the 19th pick tonight and Rodney McGruder.
OKC have traded Ricky Rubio and tonights 25th and 28th pick to Minnesota in exchange for Aleksej Pokusevski (tonights 17th pick).
New York Knicks receive the 24th pick in tonights draft (Immanuel Quickley) and the 33rd pick in tonights draft in exchange for Leandro Bolmaro (tonights 23rd pick).
Denver has traded a future draft pick for R.J. Hampton (number 24 tonight).
Detroit has swapped Tony Bradley and tonights 38th pick to Utah in exchange for future draft considerations.
Boston have traded the 30th pick in tonights draft to Memphis in exchange for a future draft pick.
